CoyoteVest keeps dogs safe from coyote attacks

Dear Readers,

I received an email from Heather Castronovo asking about the CoyoteVest. She mainly asked if the vest would protect a small dog from a big dog like a German Shepherd. Well, I think it would definitely protect against a large dog attack.

If you are regular readers, you may remember the column I did about the company (see https://bit.ly/3vkcZCU). You can find more information on the CoyoteVest at www.coyotevest.com. This vest is the creation of Paul and Pam Mott and Nicole Mellom. Their goal has been to help prevent the heartbreak like the one they suffered when losing their dog Buffy to a coyote.

It’s not cheap, costing around $134, but it’s a quality deterrent. It has two rows of spikes along the back and a collar of spikes that would slow down any predator. The side panels are reinforced with DuPont Kevlar to make the vest stab-resistant so that it can withstand sharp teeth.

The spikes are made out of strong plastic so they are easy to handle, but with pressure applied are sharp enough to hurt. The spikes are removable and attach by Velcro strips.

The whole vest is easy to put on so your pet can be dressed before you go out for a walk. It is designed to help slow down or prevent an attack, and to give you some time to react and help your pet if it is attacked.
